Republicans Running From Epstein Files; Trump’s Name Looms Large

Back in 2019, Republican leaders like Senator Lindsey Graham loudly demanded investigations into Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes and his controversial 2008 plea deal. Graham said:

“If this plea deal doesn’t withstand scrutiny then it would be the job of the Judiciary Committee to find out how it got off the rails… the tie goes to the kids.”

Fast forward to 2025, and many of those same Republicans are suddenly silent — even blocking efforts to release Epstein-related files and hold hearings.

The reason? It’s no secret anymore that President Donald Trump’s name appears repeatedly in the government’s Epstein files. Attorney General Pam Bondi personally informed Trump months ago that his name is “all over” the documents. Despite that, Republicans in power have stepped back, refusing to push for transparency.

House Speaker Mike Johnson, who once backed full disclosure, has blocked votes aimed at forcing the Justice Department to release all Epstein files. Senator Graham’s Judiciary Committee has stalled any real action. Meanwhile, Trump downplays his involvement and dismisses the files as political attacks.

This is a clear retreat from their 2019 promises. Republicans once vowed to get to the bottom of Epstein’s crimes and connections. Now, they’re running from the issue — avoiding scrutiny, protecting powerful figures, and leaving victims without answers.

The public deserves full transparency. Lawmakers who pledged to “let the truth come out” must stop hiding behind excuses and start delivering on their promises.
